K&K Industries expands prototype manufacturing capability

Custom sheet metal fabricator K&K Industries, Bellingham, Wash., has acquired Automated Metal Technologies, Redmond, Wash. With this acquisition, the company has added 8,500 sq. ft. of manufacturing capacity, new equipment and technology, and now can deliver prototype parts in three to five days and follow-on production quantities in less than two weeks.

K&K’s equipment includes lasers; turret punches; press brakes; hardware insertion machines; GMAW, GTAW, and spot welding machines; and a 4-ft.-wide graining machine. Its lasers can cut mild steel up to 1.0 in. thick, stainless to 0.5 in. thick, and aluminum up to 0.25 in. thick.
