Lockheed Martin earns three Manufacturing Leadership Awards

Lockheed Martin, Bethesda, Md., has been recognized with three 2014 Manufacturing Leadership Awards for achievements in advanced manufacturing, environmentally friendly practices, and customer relationships. The awards are administered by the Manufacturing Leadership Council, Frost & Sullivan.

The company received the Sustainability Leadership Award for its development of precision material applications that support its "Go Green" initiative by significantly reducing material waste and VOC emissions; the Engineering & Production Technology Leadership Award for developing cryogenic machining, supporting the initial Small Business Innovative Research and later creating a mentor-protege effort with a supplier to foster the technology; and the Customer Value Leadership Award for its implementation of an earned value management system that provides timely calculations of physical percent completion of work for customers.
