Marlin Steel installs automated welding machine

Marlin Steel has added a Versaweld CSR102-1230-3-MFDC NC jig welding system from Ideal Welding Systems to its facility in Baltimore.

The medium-frequency, automated welding machine supports welding in three dimensions. Its rotating heads can weld along curved or irregular shapes. The robotic unit completes a weld operation in 0.002 sec., which the company says is 30 times faster than the typical welding machine’s speed of 0.060 sec. The 10- by 4-ft. welding table handles large jobs.

The machine allows the company to process larger, complicated parts quickly without requiring manual welding.
