Matheson launches Remote Operations Center

Matheson, Basking Ridge, N.J., has opened its Remote Operations Center (ROC) at its office location in Irving, Texas. The company is a provider of industrial, welding, and safety supplies; medical, specialty, and electronic gases; gas-handling equipment; purification systems; engineering and gas management services; and on-site gas generation.

The facility enables central access for monitoring and controlling the company’s air separation units, hydrogen plants, and on-site/pipeline gas production plants. It comprises multiple workstation cells, each attended by a remote operations technician. A single workstation cell with one technician can monitor as many as seven plants simultaneously.

Each technician continuously reviews data graphs of product quality, production rates, purities, levels, and alarms. They can access process controllers, make adjustments, and shut down systems completely.
