Matheson to build second air separation unit in Los Angeles area

Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Matheson has announced plans to build a second large-capacity air separation unit (ASU) in the Los Angeles area. The company is a provider of industrial, welding, and safety supplies; medical, specialty, and electronic gases; gas-handling equipment; purification systems; engineering and gas management services; and on-site gas generation.

The ASU will produce liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and liquid argon for the aerospace, electronics, environmental, fabrication, food, medical, and metals markets. The plant is expected to be on-stream in 2017.
