Metaldyne expands plant in Indiana

Plymouth, Mich.-based Metaldyne LLC, a global manufacturer of metal-based components for engine, transmission, and driveline applications in the automotive and light truck markets, has announced that it is expanding its Bluffton, Ind., plant by 37,000 sq. ft.

The building addition will support several future transmission-related programs through the supply of ready-to-assemble differential assemblies and aluminum valve bodies. Construction is expected to be completed by March 2016.

This is the first step in a five-year, multimillion-dollar capital investment plan to support the launch and production of new programs. The business will facilitate additional training and skill development opportunities for the company’s employees.

Each of the future programs planned for the Bluffton operation involves internal components that will be supplied from the company’s other manufacturing locations.
