Pennsylvania SBDC announces Oct. 5 events for Manufacturing Week

The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) has announced “Duquesne University SBDC Presents: Export Basics,” to be held Oct. 5 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. as part of Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week, Oct. 1-7, 2016.

Held at 1 Woodland Road in Pittsburgh, this course is designed for manufacturers and technology companies seeking to initiate export programs, employees within exporting companies who need a basic knowledge of exporting, and service firms seeking to improve their understanding of globalization. Course topics include recognizing and identifying export opportunities, shipping and payment, legal and regulatory aspects of exporting, sources of information and assistance, and cultural issues.

The Bucknell University SBDC also invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of a MakerSpace at 90 Lawton Lane in Milton, Pa., on Oct. 5 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. This event will feature hands-on demonstrations of 3-D printers and other tools of the Maker Movement.

The events of Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week are part of a nationwide effort to change perceptions of manufacturing today, draw attention to career opportunities available in a variety of sectors, and educate the public on the significant impact manufacturing has on the economy.
