Proto Labs expands 3-D printing service into new facility

Maple Plain, Minn.-based Proto Labs Inc. has acquired a new facility to expand its 3-D printing service. The 77,000-sq.-ft. facility will allow the digital manufacturing company to house all of its stereolithography (SL), selective laser sintering (SLS), and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) technology under one roof.

The plant is located in North Carolina, where the company’s current additive facilities are.

In addition to moving its existing equipment into the larger space, the prototyping and low-volume manufacturer plans to increase its overall 3-D printing capacity with new machines.
