Rigaku Analytical Devices wins R&D 100 Award

Rigaku Analytical Devices, Wilmington, Mass., has announced that its KT-100™ Katana™ laser-induced breakdown spectroscopic hand-held analyzer has been selected in the analytical/test category as one of R&D Magazine’s top 100 innovative products of 2016.

The analyzer, certified rugged to U.S. Military Standard MIL-STD-810G, identifies elemental composition for both heavy and light alloying elements in metals. Primary uses include scrap metal sorting, quality assurance in metal fabrication, and positive material identification in petrochemical operations.

The analyzer’s QuickID™ software allows identification of even difficult alloys in less than 2 sec. The Drill Down feature rapidly prepares samples by removing contaminants that can affect positive metal identification.
