Sub-Zero to move 100 hourly jobs from Madison, Wis., to Arizona

As reported in the Wisconsin State Journal, Sub-Zero is moving 100 of its nearly 500 hourly jobs from Madison, Wis., to a new factory in Goodyear, Ariz., over the next two years.

The company said its goal is "to streamline production and consolidate manufacturing."

In a news release, Chuck Verri, Sub-Zero/Wolf vice president of human resources, said, “We are committed to keeping our manufacturing in the United States, but we must continuously look at more efficient ways to produce our appliances to stay competitive. Many of our competitors are moving to Mexico or offshore in an effort to drive costs out of their products.”

Employees in the 100 Sub-Zero positions being eliminated in Madison will be reviewed for hiring preference in other available positions within Sub-Zero and Wolf, the company said. Affected employees will be offered severance packages and outplacement services.
