ThyssenKrupp Presta Terre Haute announces expansion

ThyssenKrupp Presta Terre Haute LLC, a manufacturer of steering systems for the automotive industry, has announced a $22 million expansion of its facility in Terre Haute, Ind. The expansion, which reflects increased existing-customer orders from OEMs and new contracts with several major auto companies, will create 120 new jobs by 2013 and add three new assembly lines. The company currently employs about 200 people.

The company plans to invest $16.7 million in new equipment purchases, $5.1 million to expand its manufacturing facility by nearly 70,000 sq. ft., and an additional $200,000 to purchase land for a new parking lot. The expansion is scheduled to begin in April and conclude by October.

The expansion is part of a broader strategic plan for the company. The new regional headquarters of ThyssenKrupp North America, which opens in Chicago in summer 2012, will provide integrated strategic direction and services for all ThyssenKrupp companies in North America and identify new markets and opportunities for growth in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
