thyssenkrupp wins Gold for the MULTI elevator at the 2017 Edison Awards

Chicago-based thyssenkrupp North America Inc. has received the Gold Award at the 2017 Edison Awards™ in the Transportation and Logistics category.

The awards recognize excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design, and innovation. The company received the award for its MULTI elevator, which uses linear motor technology to move multiple elevator cars in a single shaft both vertically and horizontally.

The elevator is designed to increase passenger shaft capacity by 50 percent. It also requires smaller shafts than conventional elevators and can increase a building's usable area by up to 25 percent.
