T.J. Snow celebrates 50 years in business

T. J. Snow Co., a Chattanooga, Tenn., a manufacturer and distributor of resistance welding machines and related supplies, marked its 50th anniversary in business with an open house and employee luncheon.

Founded by T. J. (Jim) Snow Sr. on April 1, 1963, the company originally was conceived as a small southeastern sales and service representative for northern manufacturers of resistance welding machines and related parts and accessories. The firm has grown from a one-man operation to more than 75 employees in a 64,000-sq.-ft. facility.

The company entered the resistance welding machine manufacturing business when asked to take trade-ins on the new machines it sold as a manufacturers' representative. Before offering the trade-ins for sale, the company reconditioned or completely stripped and rebuilt those machines, leading eventually to building standard and special-design resistance welding machines from the ground up.

Located adjacent to the Chattanooga airport, the company uses a single-engine aircraft to service regional customers in a timely manner.
