TRUMPF Inc. names president/CEO, senior VP

TRUMPF Inc., Farmington, Conn., a manufacturer of fabricating machinery and industrial lasers for flexible sheet metal processing, has announced that Peter Hoecklin has assumed the role of president and CEO. In this position, he is responsible for all of the company’s subsidiaries and business operations in North America, including manufacturing, engineering, R&D, customer service, technical training, product sales, and applications.
Hoecklin succeeds Dr. Lars Gruenert, who held the role in interim for the last year. Gruenert will continue in his position as a member of the managing board of the TRUMPF Group, as well as the executive vice president and newly appointed CFO of TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG.
Hoecklin earned his MBA, a master’s degree in engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in applied and engineering physics at Cornell University. He previously worked at McKinsey + Co. and Emerson Electric Co. in a variety of functions both in the U.S. and Europe. Hoecklin joined the company in 2003 as director of purchasing in Ditzingen, Germany. He has since served the company in Germany and Asia, most recently as president and managing director of TRUMPF (China) Co. Ltd.
The company also has announced the promotion of Burke Doar to senior vice president. He joined the firm in 2002 as vice president of customer services and was promoted to vice president, sales and marketing in 2003. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a law degree from Albany Law School. Doar also serves as the immediate past chairman of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl. (FMA).
