VMG launches program to train veterans to start metal fabricating businesses

Veterans Manufacturing Group (VMG) has launched as an organization to train and help U.S. military veterans start their own employee-owned metal fabricating business with donated machine tools. The program will offer veterans paid training in the methods and techniques associated with manufacturing.

The group, which hopes to be a fully accredited nonprofit 501(c)(3) by the end of 2014, currently is asking for monetary donations from the industry to cover start-up costs, as well as the costs of manufacturing equipment purchase and installation, building rental, staffing, and training.
