Waukesha Metal Products welcomes seventh-graders as part of Be the Spark campaign

On Dec. 3, Waukesha Metal Products, Sussex, Wis., hosted 23 students from Alcott School as part of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s Council of Small Business Executives' (COSBE) Be the Spark Education Tours program.

The seventh-graders were welcomed by President/CEO Jeff Clark, who also serves as chair of the COSBE Education Committee. The students participated in a short presentation, learned about the variety of career paths in manufacturing, and toured the stamping and tooling facility.

More than 50 seventh-grade classes from Milwaukee Public Schools will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning, meet industry professionals, and explore potential career paths at area businesses in an array of fields and industries. This program, underwritten by Southwest Airlines, Waukesha Metal Products, and Superior Support Resources, grew out of the understanding that the future success of local businesses is rooted in a strong and sustainable workforce. By giving students access to local businesses, they can begin to see how their education and course selection directly relate to their future careers.
