GFPE partners with Siemens to provide advanced STEM training

The Georgia Foundation for Public Education (GFPE), a state-chartered, not-for-profit organization that works with the Georgia Department of Education (GaDoE) to promote innovative educational programs, has partnered with Siemens Industry Sector in the U.S. to develop advanced educational courses for the Career Pathways program, which trains Georgia students using a curriculum based on the employment needs of international companies with facilities in the state.

GFPE worked with Siemens to develop teaching curriculum for GaDoE's Manufacturing Pathway based on training materials, manuals, and other educational tools used at the company's Drive Technologies manufacturing plant in Alpharetta, Ga.

This pilot program has been rolled out in South Forsyth High School, where it will be delivered by a teacher who was trained at Siemens. Eventually the program will also include internships, work-based learning projects, and opportunities for overseas cultural experiences for students in Germany.
