10 Houghton metalworking fluids specialists certified

Houghton FLUIDCARE®, a division of Houghton Intl., has announced that 10 of its metalworking fluid specialists have completed successfully the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers' (STLE's) professional certification program for certified metalworking fluids specialists (CMFS).

The specialists make up the core group that provides chemical management services to DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Co. power train plants, as well as the individuals responsible for providing metalworking fluid technical support to customers and OEMs.

The certification exam—offered for the first time at the STLE annual meeting in Las Vegas May 15 - 19—was developed in response to major automotive and aerospace corporations' desire to make certification a requirement for doing business. The certification committee, chaired by John Burke of Houghton, Intl., includes executives from Biodeterioration Control Associates, Castrol, Caterpillar, DaimlerChrysler, Etna Products, Ford Motor Co., General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Houghton, Milacron, and Pratt & Whitney.
