Altair adds metal forming, forging software to Altair Partner Alliance

Troy, Mich.-based Altair has announced that Metal Forming Research Corporation has joined the Altair Partner Alliance (APA) with its forging software, Advisor for Metal Forming Process and Design Expert (AFDEX).

Originally developed to analyze the forging process, the software now has expanded capabilities for application to extrusion, drawing, rolling, and ring rolling. The software predicts forming loads to assist in selecting appropriate presses. It also develops and optimizes metal forming processes, allowing process design tryouts to be removed.

Altair’s HyperWorks platform applies a subscription-based licensing model in which customers use floating licenses to access a variety of Altair- and third-party-developed software applications on demand. The APA effectively extends the HyperWorks platform from more than 20 internally developed programs to nearly 60 applications with the addition of new partner applications.
