AP&T marks 50 years in business

AP&T celebrated 50 years as a sheet metal forming equipment manufacturer in 2014. The company’s story began in 1964, when Stig Gunnarsson and Jan Merlander founded VIBAB, a press tool manufacturer, in Blidsberg, Sweden, and Bertil Åberg founded Lagan Press in Lagan, Sweden. In 1970 two Lagan Press employees started Tranemo Hydraulmaskiner in a nearby town.

The three companies competed for the same customers during the 1970s and 1980s, but each had different strengths: Lagan Press was a deep-drawing specialist, Tranemo Hydraulmaskiner a large press table specialist, and VIBAB a tool and automation specialist.

In autumn 1989 the three companies united to form AP&T, offering complete production lines from one supplier. Today the global company has its own sales and service in Europe, North America, and Asia.
