AP&T receives award for forming high-strength aluminum

Sweden-based AP&T, with a U.S. location in Monroe, N.C., has received the 2017 Quality Innovation Award from SIQ — Swedish Institute for Quality for its technology for forming high-strength aluminum.

The committee of judges shared the following justification for its decision: “The new technology enables radical reduction of the material’s thickness and weight, which leads to lower fuel consumption and less environmental impact—at the same time that crashworthiness increases. This combination makes the innovation an important breakthrough in aluminum production technology.”
