FCA adds stamping press line at Warren, Mich., plant

FCA US has added a $63 million stamping press line to its 65-year-old Warren Stamping Plant in Warren, Mich. According to the company, its last installation of a new press line was more than 15 years ago, and this investment was needed to keep up with demand.

The high-speed servo tandem press line will increase the plant’s capacity by up to 12,000 hits/day, or about 3.6 million parts/year. Its servo drive allows for 100 percent programmable control and movement of the ram speed at any position in the press stroke. This technology allows die changes in about 4 min.

The plant provides parts stamped from sheet metal, including hoods, roofs, liftgates, side apertures, fenders, and floor pans, for a variety of vehicles built at several of the company's U.S., Canadian, and Mexican facilities.
