FMP Met Lab earns accreditation

FMP Met Lab, a sister company of Ferrous Metal Processing and FerrouSouth in Cleveland, has earned an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certificate of accreditation from the Laboratory Accreditation Bureau.

The accreditation ensures that FMP Met Lab has fully documented and appraised systems in place to perform the following metallurgical testing services for metal sheet, strip, and plate:

• Ultimate tensile strength
• Yield strength
• Elongation
• Rockwell hardness testing
• Superficial hardness testing
• Metallographic analysis
• Microetching metals
• Grain size
• Inclusion content of steel
• Depth of decarburization
• Photomicrography
• Bend testing

In achieving the accreditation, the company also demonstrated technical competence for the operation of a laboratory quality management system.
