CMS launches level-two certification program for portable CMM users

The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has launched a level-two certification exam for users of portable coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). This is the industry’s first device-specific, hands-on assessment conducted by CMS-authorized proctors, the society reports.

Candidates are required to complete an application process and qualify to take either the level-one or level-two examination. Applicants for level-one certification must meet eligibility requirements, sign the CMS code of ethics, and pass a peer review. Applicants for level-two certification must have a level-one certification and two years of basic experience (minimum 400 hours) on an articulating arm, and they must submit an application with two references who can attest to their hands-on expertise.
