Newcomb Spring adds QC measurement system for stampings

July 31, 2014

Newcomb Spring Corp., Decatur, Ga., has added Keyence Instant Measurement systems at seven of its eight manufacturing plants for quality control inspections of its stampings, flat springs, and wire forms. The system will be added at the remaining plant in 2015.

The system uses optical technologies to capture hundreds of part dimensions. Most of the company’s parts now can be measured in about 30 sec., as compared to traditional methods that could take 30 min. With the inspection system identifying issues quickly, the manufacturer can stop and calibrate production equipment, reducing the number of rejected parts.
