Ophir Photonics, a provider of precision laser measurement equipment and a Newport Corp. brand, has announced that Ophir-Spiricon LLC, North Logan, Utah, is one of 100 manufacturing companies to receive a 2014 Manufacturing Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Leadership Council.

The award, in the Workplace Leadership category, recognizes the company’s achievements in continuous improvement, innovation, and employee empowerment. Program components include an idea creation system based on a combination of the Eureka! Ranch innovation model and the company's own productivity improvement process. In addition, employees are offered more than 100 different online development courses through Bridgerland Applied Technology College.

Employees are active in community development projects involving the Child and Family Support Center, the Utah Food Bank, and fund raising races. To foster teamwork and innovation, in 2013 the employees worked together to complete a Rube Goldberg machine and were awarded a paid day off.
