Trimac to build finishing line for Rock Island Arsenal
Trimac Industrial Systems LLC, Bonner Springs, Kan., has been awarded a military contract from the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing & Technology Center in Rock Island, Iowa, the only vertically integrated metal manufacturing facility within the U.S. Department of Defense.
The contract is to design, manufacture, and install two electric infrared cure ovens, four paint booths, and an overhead hanging conveyor system to include cranes for continuous load and unload of heavy parts. The system will cure chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) on new and refurbished components for U.S. Army and other military vehicles.
The project has design challenges caused by significant elevation changes and space constraints. Trimac has designed a system that places the cure ovens on a pedestal structure above the paint booths. The system will be installed while the plant remains in full production.
