TRUMPF to expand manufacturing operations

TRUMPF Inc., a subsidiary of the German-based TRUMPF Group, has announced plans to expand its North American business.

As part of a multimillion dollar expansion plan, TRUMPF Inc. is building a laser research, development, manufacturing and demonstration facility in Farmington, Conn. The new factory will produce lasers for cutting, welding, and marking sheet metal and other materials. The planning for the 30,000- to 40,000-sq.-ft. building has already begun, and this stage is expected to be finished within the next 12 months.

The company also plans to invest in capital machinery for existing production facilities and increase its focus on advanced laser technology and more sophisticated manufacturing in Connecticut.

An additional expansion project is planned for Mexico, where a new sales, service, demonstration, and production facility will be built in Monterrey.
