SMS Meer to provide extrusion press to Yasuda Metal Industries

SMS Meer has received an order for a HybrEx 14 extrusion press from Yasuda Metal Industries, Osaka, Japan. The press, which can attain a maximum force of 14.5 mN, will be used to produce light-metal sections for windows and facades.

The press uses its hydraulic system solely to generate the forming forces required for manufacturing semifinished long products, with only the auxiliary movements of the extrusion press produced by electric servo drives. These drives can reach 39.37 IPS. A reduced nonproductive time of 1 sec. helps increase production by up to 100 tons/year, the company says.

With the press’s OxiStop technology, the air portion in the oil is reduced from 10 percent to around 1 percent, which helps increase service life of the pumps, valves, and other wearing parts. The tank volume is up to 90 percent smaller than on conventional presses.
