Thermatool announces welding machine start-up in China

Thermatool, East Haven, Conn., has announced the successful start-up of a CFD 1200 solid-state dual contact and induction welding machine at Kingland Petroleum-Gas Pipeline Co. Ltd. in Zhejiang, China.

Installed on a 24-in. (630-mm) API and structural mill supplied by Perrysburg, Ohio- based Abbey Intl. Ltd., the unit is capable of welding with induction coils or contacts interchangeably. The mill line also is equipped with a 2,000-kW Thermatool seam annealing system made up of four 500-Kw, 1-kHz units.

This is the company's second such system in operation on 24-in. and structural mills in China. The first mill is in production at Shanghai Zhong You Tian Bao Pipe and Tube Co. in Shanghai.
