Watermill Group acquires Fine Tubes, Superior Tube

September 18, 2012

Private investment firm The Watermill Group, Lexington, Mass., has acquired Fine Tubes Ltd. in Plymouth, U.K., and Superior Tube Co. Inc. in Collegeville, Pa., from Superior Group Inc., a privately owned industrial holding company. Watermill will help the two metal tubing manufacturing companies combine forces.

In bringing the two companies together, Watermill will focus on improving manufacturing operations at both companies to increase production capacity and enhance service levels while preserving product quality. Fine Tubes and Superior Tube will work closely on implementing new operational efficiencies, enhancing manufacturing practices, and expanding distribution channels worldwide.

Watermill will provide strategic guidance, advice, and hands-on support to both companies. David Robinson has been named chairman of the board for the combined company after most recently serving as president of Tyco Fire and Security. He also held senior management positions at Motorola.
