Rafter ships tube mill with entry equipment

Rafter Equipment Corp., Strongsville, Ohio, has shipped a new, custom-built RT-3000 tube mill to a U.S. automotive supplier for the production of 5-in.-OD, light-walled tubing. For quick-change capability, the mill is rafted and includes a spare raft set for offline tool changes. Also included is a nicking wheel assembly that allows for hands-free removal of the OD weld bead upset.
Included with the mill is a strip entry system consisting of a double-swivel uncoiler, hold-down/peeler/leveler, coil end joiner, and a vertical strip accumulator. The line is expected to be operational in April 2013.
