U. S. Steel Tubular Products Inc., Houston, a subsidiary of United States Steel Corp., has announced that Lee K. Boothby, chairman, president, and CEO of Newfield Exploration Co., The Woodlands, Texas, is the recipient of the Chief Roughneck Award for 2015. The award honors the lifetime achievements of petroleum industry leaders.
Boothby has served as president/CEO of Newfield Exploration Co. since 2009 and chairman since 2010. From October 2007 until February 2009, he served as senior vice president, acquisitions and business development. Boothby managed Newfield's Mid-Continent operations from February 2002 to October 2007, and was promoted from general manager to vice president in November 2004.
From 1999 to 2002, he served as the vice president and general manager of the former Australian business unit, managed from Perth, Australia. Before joining Newfield, Boothby worked for Cockrell Oil Corp., British Gas, and Tenneco Oil Co. He has a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Rice University.
