United Performance Metals aids military veterans through Get Skills to Work program

United Performance Metals, a Hamilton, Ohio-based supplier of specialty stainless steel and high-temperature alloys, has joined The Institute for Veterans and Military Families, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, and the Manufacturing Institute in combining resources to take a strategic approach to veteran employment.

The Get Skills to Work program was developed to address the high demand for skilled workers to fill U.S. manufacturing jobs. With the knowledge that 600,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs are available without skilled workers to fill them, nearly 1 million veterans are unemployed, and 1 million men and women will be returning from service over the next five years, Get Skills to Work aims to help prepare and place veterans in the jobs needed to power advanced manufacturing in the U.S.

A monthly education course, held at Cincinnati State, provides training customized to manufacturing careers. United Performance Metals supports the program by offering classroom assistance and by identifying employment opportunities for individuals who have earned certification through the program.
