United Performance Metals approved for laser processing of GE parts

United Performance Metals, a supplier of specialty stainless steel and high-temperature alloys in Hamilton, Ohio, has received special process approval from GE Aviation covering the laser machining and cutting of parts. The addition of the approval allows the company to expand the scope of its processing capabilities beyond slitting, leveling, shearing, edging, and waterjet cutting for all of its General Electric-related customer base.

United Performance Metals President Tom Kennard commented, "Now we are capable of not only supplying the metal, but providing it in shapes and patterns that will help the manufacturer eliminate scrap and reduce processes."
