Thermadyne names Built With Class contest winners

St. Louis-based Thermadyne® has announced the winners of its Built With Class welding contest. The contest was open to all students who were currently enrolled in a welding instructional program at a secondary, postsecondary, technical, or vocational school.
In the beginner student category, first- or second-year welding students submitted an essay describing why they are interested in learning about welding. The following individuals were awarded $250 prizes:
- Kristi Hallmark - Alto High School, Alto, Texas (John K. Griffith, instructor)
- Dentale White - Canton South High School ECSV Career Academy, Canton, Ohio (Art Baughman, instructor)
- Aimee Bowman - Clark County Area Technology Center, Winchester, Ky. (Coy Hall, instructor)
- Amber Williams - North Baldwin Center for Technology, Bay Minette, Ala. (Joshua Pierce, instructor)
- Joel Keevert - Swiss Hills Vocational School, Woodfield, Ohio (Tom Rouse, instructor)
In the advanced team category, a group of students with welding experience submitted a welding project plan under the supervision of their welding instructor. Each of the following winning team members received a $500 prize:
- Colby Siptak, Kyle Supak, and Blake Mounts – Bellville High School, Bellville, Texas (Jacob Diezi, instructor)
- Ashlin Rosamond and Jesse Brown – Sulphur Springs High School, Sulphur Springs, Texas (Dan Froneberger, instructor)
- Daniel Alley, Jacob Snelbaker, and Luis Salgado – Traviss Career Center, Lakeland, Fla. (Edwin Harrell, instructor)
In addition to the cash awards for students, each school that sponsored a winning student or team received a free Thermal Arc® 3-in-1 welding system.
The contest is an element of Thermadyne's ongoing Carry the Torch program to support the future of welding.
