New faceseal properties help improve respirator's effectiveness

3M has introduced the Rugged Comfort 6500 series half facepiece reusable respirator, designed to withstand long hours and extreme conditions. The over-molded design also helps simplify respirator cleaning and maintenance.

The soft but firm silicone faceseal holds up in high-heat environments to protect wearers from dusts, gases, vapors, and sprays, the company says, andthe low-profile design allows ncompatibility with other PPE.

The quick latch design offers a one-hand-touch, drop-down mechanism for putting the facepiece on and taking it off while moving in and out of contaminated areas. The quick latch also eliminates the need for the user to remove a hardhat or faceshield when lowering or raising the respirator.
