Vision-guided technology designed for robotics applications

ABB Robotics has introduced Integrated Vision, a smart camera system for 2-D vision-guided robotics applications.

Powered by Cognex, the system features the patented PatMax® algorithm for advanced part location. According to the manufacturer, the result is robust inspection, defect detection, guidance, alignment, and measurement to help ensure products meet quality standards.

The company's RobotStudio PC-based programming tool provides the platform for creating vision tasks. Operators can select features, set parameters, and operate under real-world conditions from a library of common vision applications. The smart camera offers a variety of built-in communication protocols that interface directly with the robot.
