Aluminum welding machine incorporates pulsed GMAW capabilities

Miller Electric Mfg. Co.'s new AlumaPower™ 450 MPa is a dedicated aluminum welding machine with built-in synergic pulsed GMAW capabilities designed to help increase power while maintaining ease of use.
The machine, rated at 450 amps at 100 percent duty cycle, offers a simple interface and controls. Welding times are longer with larger 0.0625-in. wires because of increased amperage and duty cycle.
The machine is one component of the company's AlumaFeed synergic aluminum welding system, optimized for pulsed GMAW when matched with the XR AlumaFeed™ push-pull wire feeder and an XR AlumaPro™ or XR™ pistol grip push-pull welding gun.
Profile Pulse™ helps makes it easier for the operator to achieve a "stacked dime" weld bead appearance without having to manipulate the torch. The operator sets the wire feed speed, and the machine automatically sets the pulsing parameters to match performance. In addition, Hot Start™ helps reduce incomplete fusion at the beginning of an aluminum weld, and the machine's crater function gradually decreases weld current at the end of a weld to reduce defects.
Adjustable pre- and postflow rates help ensure that the puddle always has adequate gas coverage.
