Welding system designed for aluminum autobody repairs

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced the Millermatic® 350P aluminum autobody repair system. The welding package is designed to address the challenges posed by welding thin-gauge aluminum, such as warping, distortion, and burn-through.

The system features the components necessary to meet the specifications set forth by Ford and the Assurance Performance Network for completing weld repairs on the Ford F-150® aluminum-body truck. These specifications require a 220-V power source with pulsed GMAW capabilities dedicated to aluminum welding, using 0.047-in. 5554 series aluminum-alloy wire.

The package includes a 200-/230-/460-V power source for single- or three-phase power; an 8-in. spool of 0.047-in.-dia. Hobart® 5554 aluminum wire; a Bernard™ Q200 aluminum GMAW gun, customized with a 12-ft.-long cable, plastic liner, and 30-degree head tube; 0.047-in. aluminum Centerfire™ contact tips; and 0.047-in. U-groove drive rolls for aluminum wire feeding.
