Aluminum wire suitable for GMAW, GTAW

Hobart Brothers now offers the Smootharc™ 4043 and 5356 spooled and cut-length aluminum welding wire for GMAW and GTAW applications. Currently available on the U.S. West Coast, the wires will be released to the rest of the U.S. by fall 2005.

The wires meet AWS A5.10 requirements and can be used for welding heat exchangers, food manufacturing equipment, transportation equipment, and boating and shipyard applications. They can be used in CV and CC applications with 100 percent argon shielding gas.

Both alloys are available in 0.035-, 3/64-, and 1/16-in. dia. and 1- and 15-lb. spools, as well as 1/16-, 3/32-, and 1/8-in.-dia. cut lengths for GTAW. The GTAW filler metals are in 36-in. lengths with the alloy number stamped on each end.
