Battery-powered GTAW system offers mobile welding

Fronius has introduced the AccuPocket 150/400 battery-powered GTAW system. It offers touchdown ignition, TIG Comfort Stop (TCS), and two- and four-step switchover to facilitate the welding of thin sheets.

The unit’s GTAW pulse function helps reduce heat input, improve gap-bridging ability, and improve weld seam appearance, the company states. It also can be used to achieve a weave pattern in the weld seam typical of GTAW, in which the two components are to be joined without the use of filler metal (autogenous). With the TAC function, the user can join the base material at the start of welding as well as during setting out and tacking.

The machine’s integrated gas solenoid valve provides an optimum gas shield in the start and stop phase. The welding torch has a GTAW multiconnector and built-in up/down switch to help reduce the main current during the welding process. This regulates the heat input and reduces the risk of burn-through.
