Multipurpose welding machine suitable for GMAW, GTAW, SMAW

December 11, 2007

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced the MultiMaster® 300X, a multipurpose, ready-to-weld package for GMAW, DC GTAW, and SMAW electrode. Designed for use with the company's Dual Shield X series of flux-cored wire, the machine is suitable for welders who use the SMAW process and would like to use flux-cored wire.

The machine's Super Switch™l technology features a high-speed, solid-state power control that produces arc performance comparable to more complex power sources and simplifies welding with the flux-cored wire, the company reports. An output preset control with two digital meters allows quick setup from a Dual Shield X quick setup card.

The machine offers DC welding output from 15 to 300 amps at 40 percent duty cycle. It also offers high efficiency and low current draw, the company states. Additional features include Touch Tig™ start capability; fan on demand; a heavy-duty, four-roll drive roll stand with serrated flux-cored wires in diameters of 0.045 in. and 0.052 in.; a 400-amp, 15-ft. gun setup for the same diameters; a large-capacity toolbox; and an "easy-on" cylinder tray. An optional module allows pulse GMAW.

The package includes a power source; a built-in, four-roll wire feeder; a factory-installed undercarriage and cylinder rack; a torch; contact tips; a regulator/flowmeter; an electrode holder and plug; and all necessary hoses and cables.
