Power source offers three programming levels based on user skill

Kjellberg offers the PSI 400 power source for plasma transferred-arc welding and plasma joint welding. It delivers a maximum welding current of 400 amps at 100 percent duty cycle. The power source is operated via a touch display on the power source or a laptop.

Different user levels offer different possibilities of influence on the welding parameters and data management. The simplest level allows adjustment of pilot current, main current, and gas and flux quantities by means of a menu. The next level allows the user to enter the welding mode, parameters for pulsed mode, and gas and flux quantities by a graphic interface. The highest level offers full process control by free adjustment of all parameters.

Operating modes are plasma, pilot, and GTAW. Two types of flux or wires can be combined. The flux types are calibrated and managed in a database. During interval welding, the power source can establish the pilot arc when the main arc is turned off, enabling a quick reignition of the main arc. This prevents repeated HF ignition pulses.
