Power sources designed for manual, heavy-duty SMAW with coated electrodes, GTAW, air carbon arc gouging

The Origo Arc 410c and 650c switching converter (chopper) power sources from ESAB Welding & Cutting Products are designed for manual, heavy-duty SMAW with coated electrodes, GTAW, and air carbon arc gouging. The machines can be used with many types of filler materials, and parameters can be adjusted easily during the welding process, the manufacturer says.
The welding properties are configured to meet the requirements of welding with all electrodes, including cellulosic electrodes. The arc is flexible when starting from the lowest currents, and when the arc is shortened, the arc force simplifies weld penetration, especially when the electrode is pressed against the welded material.
Additional features include hot start, arc force, and antistick. Vertical volt/amp characteristics maintain constant current, regardless of cable length and arc voltage. The high power factor keeps amperage draw low.
The machines are equipped with the company's A12 control panel, which features a V/A instrument and a receiver for wireless current setting. As an option, the units can be equipped with a remote control.
