Self-contained virtual training system introduces students to welding

Lincoln Electric’s new VRTEX® Engage™ weld training system brings virtual reality arc welding training to students’ desktops.

This stand-alone, foundational system sets up anywhere to help educators train welders. It addresses introductory welding curriculum, including safety, machine and process selection, welding procedure setup, and welding theory, incorporating STEM features into the learning process. It simulates short-arc, spray, and pulse welding.

The system includes a touchscreen monitor, virtual reality welding gun, tracking device, and work surface. Students can view a demo of each weld, perform the weld, and replay their own weld with the instructor. The system provides instant feedback and assessment of student welds, allowing educators and trainers to evaluate each student’s understanding of basic welding safety, welding procedure, and setup immediately.
