Semiautomatic system welds plasma wire, tube

The semiautomatic plasma wire and tube welding system from Process Welding Systems allows operators to load a guide wire, angioplasty wire, vascular closure wire, biopsy tubes, aspiration tubes, and any type of small wire or tube to be plasma-welded on the end of the part, the manufacturer states. A PLC and a DT-100 programmable weld controller manage weld parameters such as time, pulsing, slopes, and preflow and postflow gases.

Operators can set wire or tube stick-out from the tooling with a micrometer adjustment. The position of the plasma welding torch is adjusted by X/Y/Z torch slides for optimal welding alignment. Part clamping, movement to weld position, and retract are pneumatically controlled. Dual palm buttons for the weld start sequence help increase operator safety.
