Pneumatic drill provides less than 0.0006-in. T.I.R., 0.0008-in. repeatability on depths

Sugino Corp. has introduced portable pneumatic drilling units designed for the aerospace industry. The Pneucon Selfeeder™ is designed to provide less than 0.0006-in. T.I.R. and 0.0008-in. repeatability on depths.

The prototype units incorporate a requested design feature from the company's field-tested double hydro-speed regulator technology, which produces fine holes without burrs. The rapid approach of the drill is slowed when the primary control feed rate regulator is engaged before entering the part. As the drill approaches its preset depth, the secondary control feed rate regulator further slows the drilling unit to almost eliminate burrs on breakthrough.
