Laser vision system for wind turbine tower tubes introduced

June 9, 2009

Servo-Robot has introduced the Autotrac/WT for noncontact seam tracking and adaptive SAW of wind turbine tower tubes. All the electronics have been miniaturized to reduce the equipment footprint while increasing the power and digital convergence of the system.

The vision system has no moving parts, and the digital technology it uses is not affected by reflective surface conditions. No adjustments are required from the operator to teach the digital laser vision system, which contains its own onboard brain adapted to the SAW process applied in wind turbine tower tube welding.
