Power source supports robot-assisted welding

Fronius has introduced the TPS/i Robotics power source, designed for robot-assisted welding. Featuring interconnected and fully synchronized system components, the power source enables robotic welding to be performed with speed and a high degree of reproducibility.

The modified dip transfer arc (low spatter control [LSC]) and the modified pulsed arc (pulse multi control [PMC]) give the welder a high level of control over the arc. A penetration stabilizer helps ensure that penetration remains constant, even if stick-out fluctuations occur, by adjusting the wire feeder. The arc length stabilizer keeps the arc at an optimum length when the arc geometry or weld pool temperature changes.

The power source continuously collects information on the current status of the power source and on every weld seam and makes it available to the user. This detailed data can be used to monitor, analyze, and document the welding process. Using the central server unit (WeldCube), the data gathered from several power sources via their Ethernet interfaces can be combined and managed from a companywide perspective.
